FROM THE Principal’s Desk

Dear Bluejay Family,

Our school's mission goes beyond academic excellence, aiming to instill Christian values in our students, nurturing both their intellectual and spiritual growth. The hope we find in Christ is the foundation of this mission, guiding us to prepare students not just for this world but also for the eternal life.

This weekend's scripture readings, full of reminders to be vigilant, mindful, and prepared for God's grace, are very timely as we approach a week filled with distractions. In our school community, these verses inspire us to actively create an environment where we watch for opportunities to embrace Christ's teachings, support one another with compassion and understanding, and cultivate patience.

As we look forward to the Broussard Community Fair and Thanksgiving break, I encourage each of you to reflect on how we can embody the virtues of watchfulness, hope, and preparedness in our daily lives. Let's actively seek moments to support one another, practice patience, and share God's love.

May His word be a guiding light as we navigate this path together. Please pray for me this Thanksgiving, as I will be praying for all of you.

Grace and Peace,

Erin B. Henry

Principal

Curriculum and Instruction

Progress Reports:

Progress Reports for grades 2-8 have been released and will be viewable for 2 weeks. You should have received an email with your child’s progress report. You can also check them by logging into your FACTS Parent Portal account and clicking Progress Report (mid-term) to view them. Please be sure to discuss your child’s progress with them. This can be a great opportunity to make a plan for the rest of the 9- weeks. Next week is a short week, and the students are excited about the pageant and the annual Broussard Community Fair. Take the time to keep them on the tasks for the day.

Junior High Mid-Term Study Material:

Junior High students should start receiving their mid-term study guides upon the return from break. Please be on the lookout for that. Make a plan on how to prepare for Mid-term exams. Advanced planning and preparation are essential to successful outcomes.

St. Cecilia Feast Day

Our patron’s feast day is November 22. Though we will be on break, please take some time to thank her for praying for our school and ask for her continued intercession on our behalf.

St. Cecilia Prayer:

O glorious Saint, who chose to die instead of denying your King.

We pray you please to help us as His fair praise we sing!

We lift our hearts in joyous song to honor Him this way.

And while we sing, remembering to sing is to doubly pray.

At once in our hearts and our tongues we offer double prayer

Sent heavenward on winged notes to praise God dwelling there.

While with our hearts and tongues we try with song to praise God twice. We ask dear Saint to help us be united close with Christ!

ADVANCEMENT

SCS PAGEANT

Dear Bluejay Family,

This week in SCS Athletics was quite a fun one! Our 8th Graders took a break from basketball and cross country to participate in a Powder Puff Flag Football Game on Wednesday night at Teurlings. The game saw our 8th grade girls play flag football while being coached by the 8th grade football players. Not only were the coaches exemplary at their job of instruction, but the girls have some bragging rights of going undefeated as well by beating the host, Sts. Leo Seton in convincing fashion. It was a night of smiles and camaraderie between the schools. Even the officials had a good time!

The cross country team saw its season come to an end this week with its league and state championship meets taking place on Monday and Saturday morning. The Christian School League Championship meet was held on Monday afternoon at Ascension Episcopal. Our Bluejay girls team finished a very respectable 6th, and the boys finished 5th. Miles Schoenfeld once again finished in the top 10 earning a championship shirt. The Bluejays then turned their attention to the state championship meet in Pineville at the Ward 9 Sports Complex. On a misty and cold morning, the Bluejays did not disappoint. They both finished in the top 10 of the state for cross country at the middle school level. Seth Gallagher and Miles Schoenfeld both finished in the top 25 and were honored with championship shirts. The kids this year made tremendous strides since starting during the heat of summer, and have become strong runners as a result while having fun along the way. The coaches have learned alot from them as well. We bid farewell to our 8th graders and feel confident they are ready to run in high school.

Middle School Cross Country State Championship Meet

Girls- Lauren Froehlich- 15:50, Ellen Bourgeois- 16:01, Maria Christ- 16:35, Amelia Williams- 16:45, Heidi Derge- 17:13, Addison Spears- 17:16, Emmeline Ware- 18:03

Boys- Miles Schoenfeld- 13:03, Seth Gallagher- 13:05, Luke Hogan- 13:36, Landon Bertrand- 14:41, Mikah Flores- 15:01, Ayden Kennedy- 16:08

Continuing on the running front, click the link below to register for the Broussard Community Fair 5k and 1 Mile Fun Run. We are looking to eclipse the number of runners from last year, and show how fast our Bluejays are!

We would like to remind everyone of our policy for participating in extracurricular activities after school. As stated in the student handbook on page 51, "If a student is absent 3/7 or more of instructional time, he/she may NOT participate in after-school activities that day without special permission from administration." This includes, but is not limited to, team practices or games, club meetings, and special school events.

Championship gear and banners are being finalized. As soon as they are available for order, I will provide the details. Thank you for your support of SCS Athletics! To keep up with the schedule for our Bluejays, please follow the link below.

Have a blessed day,
