Memorial Fund For Christa Benedict

The community is mourning the loss of a teacher, family member, and friend Christa Benedict. Christa was a beloved member of the IHM Community, sharing her passion for her Catholic faith and social studies as a classroom and religious education teacher for over 20 years. She had a strong passion for her students and education.

 

Christa started feeling a lot of pain and went to the hospital to seek treatment thinking that it was something minor, this is when she found out that she had pancreatic cancer. The cancer had already spread to several other places in her body. The doctors tried to plan for treatment, but Christa's body was already to weak. She was taken off of antibiotics and transferred to hospice where she was expected to live the last few weeks of her life and her family expected to be able to enjoy time with her. Once she was relocated to hospice things took a drastic turn for the worse and Christa didn't end up making it through the night. Her family stayed with her until she took her last breath late into the night of Wednesday, December 1, 2021. This all happened very quickly and unexpectedly, leaving her family with a lot of unexpected bills and expenses.

 

She leaves behind a husband that did an amazing job of loving and taking care of her, but she was their main source of income. Brian needs help to provide Christa with her funeral services. He also has concerns about the possibility of losing their home now that he has to cover all of their bills on his own and has missed work to be with her.
